Welcome to this week’s update.
I’m happy to announce the House Captains for session 2021-22.
Brodie – Aimee-Ellen Anderson and Rebecca Scollen
Glen – Kara Gralko and Laura Gifford
Moredun- Hannah McArthur and Amber McAfee
Thornly – Beth Rogan and Rosie Smith
The pastoral team and I are looking forward to working with the house captains throughout this session, continuing to improve house identity in Gleniffer and supporting House Charities. Congratulations to them all!
S1 pupils were treated to a performance by KOOLKID on Wednesday. KOOLKID is a musician/songwriter who was a contestant on X Factor and has his own social media following. KOOLKID also talked to pupils about a number of issues which face young people such as mental health, body image and LGBTQ+. The young people were a brilliant audience and really enjoyed themselves. Almost the whole of S1 queued up for selfies!
Another study skills workshop took place on Wednesday after school and the final session (for now) takes place on Monday 4th October after school in FO07. Any S4-6 who missed their session can come along. SQA have published the exam timetable for 2022 which can be found at www.sqa.org.uk/timetable.
Student Leaders organised a Pizza Quiz Night for S6 after school on Thursday. They thought it important to bring the year group together and start fundraising for prom June 2022.
Next week is the big Foodbank Collection. Items can be donated throughout the week with pupils receiving house tokens for each donation. The big collection takes place on Friday 8th October, which is also non-uniform. Last year we collected around 5000 items for the local Foodbank which makes a huge difference in our community. Let’s see what we can do this year!
I am planning a community litter pick on Friday 8th October so any pupils S1-3 who would like to help out after lunch on Friday should sign up at my office.
October is Black History Month. Student Council are raising awareness of black figures – historical and current and looking at race inequity with pupils, staff and parents and carers throughout the month. Look our for information and learning opportunities coming your way.
Have a lovely weekend!
