Welcome to this week’s update.
This week I met with the School Promotion team for the first time. We are looking to get out more good news about pupils, the school in general and achievements. Working with senior pupils, we will be using more social media platforms and hope to get features in the local press too. House Captains are being interviewed over the next week and once they have all been selected, we will come to you with information about how you can inform of us of your child’s achievements. In the meantime, a link to our new Gleniffer High facebook page has been sent out. I hope this will be full of lots of school information and let you get a look at what is happening inside very soon!
The senior leadership team carried out uniform checks on Tuesday this week, and for the most part the standards of uniform are very high. At any point in the school session if you need replacement items, we have brand new, high quality shirts, blouses, skirts and trousers available at no cost. I know the young people really take a stretch throughout the year so if we can help, we are happy to do so. You can speak to the head teacher in complete confidence if there are any other uniform items you need replaced such as footwear, jackets etc. I would much prefer all our young people look part of the Gleniffer team, without the additional financial burden on families, which can be worrying for some. Please check whether your child is eligible for free meals and if you think so apply via

Our senior phase pupils are well into assessment mode and there is loads of studying going on in our social area over interval and lunch every day. It’s great to see them take it so seriously and hopefully it will help them feel calmer and more in control of their schedule. I ran a study skills session yesterday and have another two planned (there are still some spaces) on 29th September and 4th October. Any senior phase pupil who would like to attend or missed the session they booked for yesterday can still sign up directly with me. The session yesterday was very well attended with S4-6 pupils coming along. S4 tracking reports are finalised by class teachers today and reports will be issued by Miss Feggans next week via an assembly. Useful Senior Phase Learning Journals will also be issued for pupils to analyse their tracking and record verbal feedback from staff on their next steps.
Until we can hold normal Parents’ Evenings, we will be running online meetings so that you can speak to your child’s teachers directly. More information will come out as we move through the session. The first Parents’ Evening is for S1 parents and carers on Thursday 11th November 5.00pm-7.30pm.
Our next Parent Council and PTA is on Monday night at 7.00pm online via MS Teams. If you haven’t already signed up and would like to join us, please send an email to glenifferhighenquiries@renfrewshire.gov.uk.
Finally, our School Improvement plan for 2021-22 and Standards and Quality Report for 2020-21 are now available on our school website for your information.
Have a great weekend and remember the next two weeks are short ones for the September weekend!
