Welcome to this week’s update.
This week we interviewed S6 pupils for the Student Leaders roles this session. This is a very rigorous process, which includes submission of an application, before selection for interview. Miss Feggans, last year’s Head Boy and Girl, the chair of Parent Council and I met with 11 young people on Tuesday who told us about their aspirations for the year ahead. Following lengthy discussion Jazmine Moore and Andrew McKellar were appointed Student Leaders with Keira Lilley, Niamh Carter, Daniel Sinclair and Emma MacMillan as Depute Student Leaders.
Holly Reid in S6 will chair the Student Council this session, following an impressive commitment to the council last year.
We will soon be interviewing for House Captains and organising buddies, subject ambassadors and student led supported study for pupils in S1-3.
Our first cluster meeting of the session took place on Wednesday. It was useful to meet with my primary head colleagues to plan and share information. We meet regularly with a big focus for me being primary – secondary transition. Our first P7 event was planned for October but we are no further forward with information regarding parents/carers events in school. We have therefore pushed back the P7 Open Evening to February. We will keep you updated about transition throughout the year.
Finally, I was pleased to be able to issue First Aid certificates to a number of our S5 pupils who recently completed their SCQF Level 6 First Aid Course. This is a wonderful set of skills to have and will also help them in their own employability journey.
Enjoy the weekend!
