Our S6 Leavers had a wonderful night on Tuesday. The weather was very kind to us and it was amazing to see so many family and friends coming to Gleniffer to wave them off for a night of fun. The venue was Sherbrooke Castle Hotel, which was stunning. Ciara Phillips (Head Girl) and helpers did a wonderful job of liaising with the hotel and events planner to make sure the look of the dance was perfect. Gorgeous displays, LED floor and even a doughnut wall were lovely touches.
Des Clarke of Capital Scotland breakfast show presented the pupil awards on the night, with Mr Benzie and Mrs Collins getting best teacher prizes as well as a host of funnies for pupils.
The meal was lovely and staff of the hotel did a great job keeping everything moving. One member of staff commented that this was the best group of young people they’d had a for a prom. Something, which made me incredibly proud to hear.
They all headed back on the coach or onto other venues to finish off celebrating in style. They were an absolute credit to the school and had a wonderful evening.
Our Malawi group are off! They spent the day with their group leaders on Friday making final preparations for the trip. To say the atmosphere was of excitement is an understatement… On Saturday morning, they met early at the school with family members here to wave them off. After a slight hiccup with the coach, we managed to get them all to Glasgow Airport safely and in plenty of time to embark on the first leg of their journey. I am pleased to say they have arrived safely in Lilongwe and will travel to Dzenza tomorrow to start on their project.
