Our timetable changed on Monday with all seniors returning ready to embark on the next stage of their National Qualifications. There are still some issues we are trying to sort out with individual timetables via our links with other schools. Hopefully these will be resolved very soon.
Every year group has moved up a stage now and it’s lovely to see the new S6 in their S6 tie and blazers raring to go! New S4 pupils have been fantastic throughout the exam period and even this week supporting Prize Giving. The leadership of pupils all throughout the school is evident and they really do help to make events run more smoothly.
S6 had their induction day on Tuesday, ably organised by Miss Cameron. In groups they heard about plans for next session, including badge holder posts, timetables and leadership events. This starts with them helping to organise Carni Malawi! Tree of Knowledge were in delivering fantastic presentations, which I know were very well received by the young people and they also participated in some team building. It’s a great start to the year and we hope to have the Badge Holder positions organised prior to the summer-including House Captains.
Thursday night was the Prize Giving ceremony for S1-3 pupils. Beautiful performances from pupils as well as a rousing welcome on bagpipes from Erica Gill really set the tone for the evening. The event was packed! We even had to bring out extra seats. I was very privileged to issue the “Ben Thomson Memorial Trophy” for the very first time. This was awarded to Daniel Duffy and Jamie-Louise Murray who were very proud recipients.
Sports Day takes place on Monday for S1-3. PE staff have been working hard on trials to get timings and let pupils know which events they are competing in. More news on the winners next week.
