This week S2 enjoyed their “I Can Do Anything” day organised by Mrs Hunter.
Pupils learned about different sectors in industry, career pathways and how to use My World of Work. The employers who supported this event commented on the conduct of the young people and how engaged they were in their learning. S2 pupils also had an input at their assembly this week on their curriculum personalisation next year. Appointment letters have been sent to parents and carers inviting you to attend a meeting with the Pastoral Support teacher and your child to discuss their course choices for S3. Parent’s night for S2 was very well attended on Thursday and the trial of the booking system was well received.
S2 parents heard from Mrs Futamata on Thursday night about our proposals for changes to our BGE prize giving this session. I will consult Student Council next week about the proposals, before we prepare a document for S1-3 parents and carers informing them about the changes.
Some S5 students presented to S1-3 pupils on Wednesday about eco-committee. They are looking for new members, particularly S1,2 or 3 pupils who will help take forward the work of the committee to get a Green Flag for Gleniffer High. The group will meet Wednesday lunchtimes in Humanities.
A group of S3 volunteers went out in the cold and rain this morning to pick litter along the path next to the school which runs down to Brediland Road. As always we were accompanied by our parent helper. We made a good dent in the winter accumulation of rubbish but plan to try and get out again very soon.
