On Tuesday we had our first PTA meeting of the session. The PTA do fantastic fundraising work for the young people of Gleniffer. The money raised in recent years has paid for our extra-curricular awards, contributed to Leavers’ Dance and awards ceremonies, refurbished the school library, the Pupil Support Hub (incuding technology) and created a Nurture Base. I’m sure you will agree that these are all wonderful supports for our young people. The work of the PTA is not extensive and is made easier with more members. The next meeting is yet to be confirmed but I will publish this as soon as possible. You do not have to devote endless hours to supporting our PTA. Attending events or coming along to the odd meeting all helps, as does sharing the work of the committee. New members are welcome at any time and meetings usually only last one hour. Without these fundraising efforts we would not have the provision or the celebrations that we currently offer.
Our Malawi group have started their after school meetings again. They are now planning a Malawi Ball which will take place on Friday 25th October in the Normandy Hotel. Details from the young people themselves will come soon and is sure to be a great night.
Thanks to the S1 parents and carers who attended the Information evening last night. I hope some of the logisitical information we provided about parents’ nights, reports, homework and achievements was useful and has helped understanding of our school community. Please remember we are on the end of the phone if you need to chat to someone about any aspects of the school or your child.
