This week I have been interviewing prospective candidates for teaching and non-teaching posts, due to start in August. It’s been a great experience, listening to why people want to come and work in Gleniffer High, and I’m delighted to have been able to select candidates from all the interview panels this week!
Our Malawi expedition is going well. The young people and staff have been enjoying safari, mountain treks, lake activities, camping, wildlife and negotiating their way in a different culture. They are due to arrive back in Glasgow Airport on Sunday morning and I know their families will be delighted to welcome them home. They’ve had no contact for the last two weeks, I’m betting the phones are one of the first items they reach for when they get home!
Next week will bring some tears for some of our staff who are retiring after lengthy service to education and Gleniffer High School. Ms Peden, Mrs McNicol, Mrs McMunn and Mrs Kennedy will not be returning in the new session and instead will probably be travelling somewhere or having nice lunches on the first day back. And so they should! I’d like to thank them on behalf of the whole school community for their support, guidance and commitment in working with the young people of Gleniffer High and wish them a very happy retirement.
