Our S4 pupils are doing really well on work experience. I’ve already had some very positive reports about how the young people are coping in the work place. Well done to all of them and of course to Mr Ramsay who provides such great support in helping them into a placement.
Higher prelims are running smoothly this week. S5/6 pupils are working hard in the exams and now staff are starting the marking process. The last exam is Tuesday 22nd January.
Mrs Prentice and I have been meeting with Principal Teachers this week to look at plans for the curriculum and pathways for young people as they progress through the school. We have also had really good discussion about inputs to the curriculum from external partners and industry.
Our P7s spent today in Gleniffer High. This is a new addition to our transition calendar and allows the pupils to start to meet with each other. The classes set up for today are not the classes which will be allocated in August, as we will go through an exercise with the primaries to ensure we are placing pupils correctly. The theme for the day was Nurture and pupils worked through five lessons on Self-Awareness, Managing Feelings, Empathy, Social Skills and Motivation. Mrs Sangster, DHT Pupil Support, has P7 Transition as part of her remit and she organised a fantastic day for the young people. The next event is an evening session with parents and young people after Easter holidays and before the two-day induction. Thanks to all our S3 helpers, they were a credit to the school and very supportive of the P7s throughout the day.
