Welcome to my first weekly reflection of the new session.
This week has been tinged with sadness as we return with one less of our school community. Year group assemblies took place throughout Wednesday and we remembered Ben Thomson and paid respect to him and his family.
Our new S1 have started and there seem to be lots of smiles and happy faces. S1 & S3 Photographs will be taken on 23rd August. We are also inviting our S1 parents and carers to come join us at 6.30pm on 23rd August to get some more information about how the school operates and also get “Show My Homework” logins and a demonstration of the package.
I was delighted to share exam successes with all pupils in Gleniffer during assemblies this week. Some of our results were the highest they have ever been and it’s down to the hard work and dedication of the young people, their teachers and of course families. It is important to me that pupils know their journey to SQA qualifications will be individualised but also that the work starts from the start of every school year.
Pupil packs were issued on Wednesday. Please ensure you check and make any changes to the Annual Data Check form. It is vital we have up to date contact and medical information in the case of an emergency. The pack also contains information from PTA and Parent Council. If you would like to join either of these please fill in the return slips and get them back to the school office by Wednesday 22nd August. The first PTA meeting of the session takes place in the school library at 7pm on 21st August. The Parent Council AGM takes place at 7pm in the Staff Development Base on Monday 27th August. I hope we’ll see lots of new members there!
Here’s to a happy and successful 2018-19.
