It is Health Week! S1-3 pupils have been involved in a variety of activities to promote physical and mental health. Mini – Olympics were held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. All pupils participated in three tournaments of netball, football and hockey. The House Winners were:
The smoothie bike has been working hard all week during lunchtime. Thanks to Co-op and Morrisons for donating fruit!
Active Communities were working with some of our S2 and S3 pupils on managing stress and anxiety and Commonwealth Basketball player Chris Cleary was working with some S1 pupils on Friday.
HFT organised the Great British Bake Off with staff competing against each other, ably supported by S6 pupils and some S1/2. The overall winner was Mrs Denny. Matt Stewart from Entrepreneur Me came in and motivated S1 pupils using entrepreneurship as the theme.
Friday finished up with inflatables and the “Great Glennie Walk”.
Overall, pupils had a great week and huge thanks goes to all staff who worked so hard to plan and carry out events.
The enrichment programme is well underway. Pupils who are not sitting SQA exams have been developing skills and working with external partners.
This week there have been sessions on Self Confidence and Money and Work, led by “Barclays Lifeskills”. The British Army were in school on Monday to lead team building sessions. Thursday was Independence Day, where the pupils were tasked with a map and bus pass to get themselves to key partners in Paisley, which could support them as they, move on to employment at a later stage. Today the young people attended the Renfrewshire School Careers Fun Fair organised by West College Scotland.
There is still lots more to come through the enrichment programme.
