A very Happy New Year to all the Gleniffer community! I hope 2019 brings you all health and happiness.
It’s assembly week and there were a variety of presentations for different year groups. S1 and S3 were reflecting on resilience and teamwork, S2 heard from Teenage Cancer Trust, S4 were hearing from Mrs Prentice about options for next year and Foundation Apprenticeships and S6 heard a presentation on Money Matters. Soon options interviews will begin for S4 and S5, and similar to last year parents and carers will be invited to join the meeting with the Depute Head and young person. Letters with interview times will be out very soon.
S3 were involved in the YPI launch today. They will be working through a programme in PSE, which will include them learning about and even visiting local charities. Groups will work together to learn about their chosen charity before making a pitch as to why their charity should benefit from £3000. Learn more about YPI here https://ypiscotland.org.uk/
Good luck to S4 pupils embarking on a week of work experience next week! And also to our Higher candidates as they begin their prelims on Monday!
From Monday, the school gates will be closed between 8.45am and 9.00am. This is to improve safety and decrease congestion at a very busy time. I would ask that parents/carers drop their children off at the turning circle rather than drive down to the front of the building. We must ensure there is clear access for pupils, staff, emergency vehicles and anyone requiring to park at the front for disabled access. Anyone who has a specific requirement to drop his or her child at the front of the building should call the school office. I appreciate your cooperation.
