A very happy new year to the Gleniffer High community! I hope this year is a healthy and productive one for all our young people and that we can work together to ensure they have a positive experience, which helps them make progress in all aspects of their lives.
Normal service has resumed this week as pupils and staff return to school life. We are preparing Higher and Advanced Higher pupils for prelims, which begin on Monday, and this week Miss Feggans issued supported study timetables for classes running through to the spring holiday.
S4 pupils commence their work experience on Monday and we wish them all, the very best of luck as they go out into the world and learn in a different environment. I’m sure they’ll have a great experience.
We also have our first P7 transition day next Friday. With a theme of Nurture, P7 pupils will spend the day in Gleniffer meeting staff and pupils from other schools. We can’t wait to welcome them!
Soon, S4 options interviews will take place. All pupils will be issued with an appointment letter giving them the time they are to meet with their head of house to discuss plans for next year. It is beneficial for parents and carers to also attend these meetings and discuss with staff which pathways are the best for each individual young person. Please look out for this correspondence. SDS workers are also available to meet with young people and parents/carers if more specialist advice is needed.
At our last count, Glen House are back in the lead with house points. Remember to use our report an achievement feature on the school website to share good news about your children. This also helps to get points for houses and extra-curricular awards. The House Captains and I will be doing our next count in a fortnight.
Finally, a reminder of our Senior Phase Family Learning event taking place on 22nd January at 6.30pm. Live-n-Learn, Foundation Apprenticeships, SDS, Study Skills and Wellbeing will be the focus of the evening with workshops and fantastic presentations. Parents/carers and the young people in S4-6 are invited to attend. Please return the tear off slip to let us plan refreshments etc for this event. Looking forward to seeing lots of you there!
Good luck to our S4 work experience pupils and our Higher and Advanced Higher candidates next week!
